Historic Marion County Courthouse

Located on the exterior, west side of the Historic Marion County Courthouse are Honor Rolls. The Historic Marion County Courthouse is located at the center of Marion; at the intersection of Center Street & Main Street. On street parking and a parking lot to the north of the courthouse are available.

Originally there was an Honor Roll recognizing all the citizens of Marion County who had served in World War Two. During courthouse renovations the larger Honor Roll was removed. The Bird-McGinnis Post 162, American Legion now cares for the Original World War Two Honor Roll.

Currently there are Honor Rolls those killed in four wars; World War Two, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and The War on Terror (Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom), located on the west side of the courthouse. On the interior, second floor the is a World War One Honor Roll for those who died during World War One. This honor roll is visible from the exterior steps on the west end of the courthouse.

Be sure to read the historical marker near the courthouse and walk around and enjoy the architecture of this structure.
